Dog Presumed to Be a Stray Befriends Woman on Beach and Gives Her the Ultimate Surprise

There’s nothing like a trip to the beach to clear the mind and hit reset on stress. Feeling the sun on your skin and the sand in your toes is nothing less than magical, but beach days are even more fun with a furry friend. Just ask Lucy Carpenter!

Lucy is a pet sitter living in Hawaii who met the sweetest four-legged friend during a March 22 beach trip. The friendly dog appeared to be a stray, but there was no doubt that she was a regular at this dog-friendly beach. They splashed in the waves, zoomed through the sand, and enjoyed a core memory together before Lucy noticed the dog’s collar.

After a closer look, the beachgoer found the most wholesome note on the black dog’s ID tag. It turns out she wasn’t a stray at all!

Aww, what a good girl! Maji is incredibly loyal and well-behaved to wait for her mom on a beach full of fun and friends, but it sure seems like there’s nowhere else she’d rather be. The way she rolls in the sand exudes pure joy and bliss!

“I love that the doggy stays where his mom is. My dogs would have been gone,” one commenter admitted. Many dog parents can relate to raising adventurous pups, but with enough training, consistency, and positive reinforcement, many dogs can also learn to wander off leash unsupervised.

It’s quite common for dogs to roam freely in many parts of the world!

When I traveled to Costa Rica, I was surprised to see so many pet dogs wandering around and relaxing without a leash. However, I was relieved to notice how warmly they were treated by both tourists and locals. One village dog even walked several miles each day just to spend time with his human friends at the resort where we stayed!

Muji hangs out with her friends at the beach in the very same way. While her mom catches a wave, she catches Zs on the sand or plays in the water. Beach trips may be a routine part of her life, but her friendship and adventures are so special to the folks she meets.

It didn’t take long for Maji’s mom to discover the video, and she quickly created a TikTok channel for the pup! In the first post under the username @eileen.maji’s, the dog mom shared some background about the rescue pup and the adventures they’ve experienced together. It turns out that Maji even surfs alongside her mom when the waves are calm enough!

This friendly beach dog’s life just keeps getting better and better!
