City Town – Hello Kitty Island Adventure Guide

City Town is Hello Kitty Island Adventure’s first metropolis on Imagination Island. This area can be accessed pretty early in the game after unlocking Friendship Level 7 with Badtz-maru, Chococat, Keroppi, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll. After waiting a day, the Ship Shape Quest can be started by talking to Badtz-maru on the beach near the Comic Book Stand.
Exciting adventures await you in City Town along with a new friend! Imagination Cafe opens up a menu of fresh foods to unlock at the Chef’s Station, and City Critter Park is an extension to the Nature Preserve where all the new Fish and Critters can be donated. By completing Quests, you can unlock a variety of exciting stores to shop at! Players can also recruit new visitors and house them in the Rainbow Tower, using Orange Sherbet Crates found around City Town.
City Town Characters
Usahana greets the party once they arrive in City Town for the first time. She is currently the only character who lives in City Town. She loves colorful items like Colorpillars and Rainbow Dango as well as the delicious Mochi and Dango you can make at the Imagination Cafe! Be sure to save Friendship Blossoms to give Usahana three additional gifts for the day.
Panya, Wanwa, Sora, Nyako, and Buppi can become Traveling Visitors to Rainbow Tower once the apartment is unlocked. Bring My Melody along to decrease the needed Orange Sherbet Crates to unlock Rainbow Tower apartments, and add lots of tasty Imagination Cafe sweets to the Tower’s rooms to befriend these Visitors faster!
City Town Important Locations and Building Unlock Guide
Much like Merry Meadow, there’s lots to do in City Town, but only after getting Usahana’s Friendship Level high enough to unlock key areas like the Imagination Cafe and Sewers. As you complete more City Town Quests, you can also encourage characters like Pekkle and My Sweet Piano to open stores in City Town. Of course, there’s also new Fish and Critters to collect!
Imagination Cafe
After unlocking Usahana’s Friendship Quest “A Whole New Menu” at Level 3, Usahana will travel back to Friendship Island to see the player’s cooking at Hello Kitty’s Shop. Inspired, she’ll ask the player to help her out with Imagination Cafe, unlocking new recipes using Rice Flour and other ingredients.
You can make Mochi, Dango, Boba Tea, Onigiri, Snow Ice, Ramen, Taiyaki, and Sando at the Cafe’s Chef’s Station. Unlocking each new item requires completing Quests around City Town.
Rainbow Tower
Rainbow Tower is located on the left side of City Town, to the left of the foggy street. It is an easily noticeable building, as it is tall, brightly colored, and has a pair of Usahana ears on top!
Interact with Usahana’s Sign outside the building and the prompt will ask for five Orange Sherbet Crates to unlock Rainbow Tower. Bring along My Melody and that amount will decrease by one. To upgrade and add an Apartment, you’ll need 10 Orange Sherbert Crates. There are currently five Island Visitors who can live here, and more may be added in the future!
City Critter Park
Similar to the Nature Preserve in Spooky Swamp, City Critter Park is where players can donate the Critters found in City Town. Just like in the Preserve, a Nul will be inside the Critter Park for players to donate their finds.
Sewers
The Sewers are located underneath City Town and can only be accessed once you have reached Friendship Level 9 with Usahana. After completing the “Tea Time” quest, players can unlock a Quest to investigate the sewers, “Above and Below.”
The Sewers are home to the Shadow Spray fish, the Critter Squeakle, and the material Seaweed. In addition, the Sewers are filled with puzzle rooms you can unlock using City Keys. City Keys are found around City Town, rewarded for quests, or given by satisfied customers in the Imagination Cafe.
Piano Plush Pals
Piano Plush Pals is a shop on the right side of town, owned by My Sweet Piano. It is unlocked via a Quest chain beginning with “Design a Dream.” This shop sells customizable Plush Pals. Currently, the following designs are available: Colorpillar, Crowbert, Banana, Avocado, Seal, and Nul.
Pekkle’s Music Shop
Pekkle’s Music Shop can be found in the center of City Town. Pekkle opens it in the Quest “Downtown Tunes.” It sells a selection of Music Discs every day, including potentially rare or time-limited Discs.
Keroppi’s Orchard
Keroppi helps you plant an Orchard in the Quests “Outside the Blocks” and “Branching Out.” This Orchard is located on the rooftops of City Town, near the City Rooftop fast travel mailbox. It can be used to grow a variety of fruit that can be made into dishes at the Imagination Cafe.
Theater
Usahana, Hangyodon, and Hello Kitty work together to open a Theater in a Quest chain beginning with “Meant for the Stage.” The Theater is located on the lowest rooftop level, one level below the Rooftop fast travel mailbox, and is the site of an intriguing mystery involving a spooky ghost!
Wheatflour Wonderland Portal
If you have access to the Wheatflour Wonderland DLC, you can unlock a portal between the two areas in the Quest “Saving Snacks.” It is located to the left of the Imagination Cafe, and lets out near Cogimyon’s Corral in Wheatflour Wonderland.
City Town Materials
Materials in City Town are pretty scarce in the early game. Two materials can only be bought once the Imagination Cafe is upgraded to the highest level. The other materials are dependent on the weather or require the Sewers to be open.

City Town Critters
City Town Critters can be caught with the Net tool and either donated to the City Critter Park or given as gifts to increase Friendship Levels with Usahana. Colorpillar is the best beginner gift for Usahana until more of City Town and its Quests are unlocked.
Donating one Squeakle to the Critter Park will earn you a City Key, an item needed to open Puzzle Rooms in the Sewers.
City Town Fish
City Town Fish can be found in any body of water, including a water tank on one of the buildings. They can be reeled in with the Fishing Rod tool and donated to the Fwishing Well or given as gifts.
