While it may not be summer in East Texas, spring breakers are planning their trips.
Some will find a resort with an awesome pool so they can get their dose of vitamin D poolside, while others will be planning their getaway for a beachside location along the Texas Gulf Coast so they can feel the sand squish between their toes.
They’ll be walking along the shore feeling the breeze from the Gulf of Mexico – sorry, Gulf of America – while walking in ankle-deep ocean water out of fear of not knowing what’s in the water that may get them. Some may hit the beach to fly a kite or catch some waves or that night’s dinner.
Now, Texas has nearly 370 miles of coastline that offer up a multitude of opportunities for exploring, swimming, surfing, fishing, relaxing, sand castle building, and kite flying.
U.S. News & World Report came up with a list of the 10 best beaches in Texas, stretching from the Texas/Mexico border to the Texas/Louisiana border.

When I visited the beaches in Galveston, I made a joke about the water in this part of the Gulf of Mexico. As I drove down Seawall Blvd., I looked out into the Gulf, and it looked like it was a gigantic churning glass of chocolate milk! Of the numerous times I’ve been to Galveston, I have yet to see clear water!
From the survey, the number one beach in Texas to visit sits north of the Texas/Mexico border and is considered a premier Spring Break destination, South Padre Island has been named the Best Beach In Texas.
